Learning about the way that kids grow up is very interesting. The process by which a small ball of cells becomes a fully functional person will blow your mind. There is a lot more to infancy than you might think. Cuteness is only a small part of being a baby! They each have individual needs and wants that parents need to take care of to make sure that development occurs the way it should. You probably have no idea how complex being a baby can be. Good parents learn everything they can about how their children are developing, even in the early stages of infancy.
Even before a baby is born he is sensitive to light. Millions of fibers and nerve endings connect together to create your eyes. The coordination needed for the eyes to function properly is extraordinary. A baby has eyes that are useful within a few months of being conceived. By the time your baby has spent six months growing in your womb, he or she will already be sensitive to light. A great piece of eye trivia: your baby’s eyes might change color a few months after she is born-Caucasian babies are born with blue eyes and it takes a few months for the eyes to change to their permanent color. The blue color in your baby’s eyes will probably change if you are Caucasian. So do what you can not to let your heart get set on having a blue eyed child. Your baby might have different colored eyes before too long! If you had an baby with your ex, it is time to learn how to get an ex back fast. Most people already accept that babies are able to hear sounds even before they are born. Many sounds cause babies to have strong reactions-reactions that have been recorded before the baby is born. The ears of an infant are sensitive to different decibel levels of sound-both inside of and outside of the womb. The ears of an unborn infant are extremely sensitive. Your doctor will probably tell you that a good gauge for what is too loud is your vacuum cleaner: if your television or music is louder than the vacuum then that music or television show needs its volume turned down! The goal is to keep the noise down as much as possible but loud enough that you can still hear it; avoiding construction areas and places with heavy traffic sounds when you leave the house is also a good idea.
Until recently even doctors believed that babies didn’t smile until a while after they had been born. If a baby does smile before a certain point, most people think it is gas. For more than a century people believed that smiling was an activity taught to babies by their parents. Crying seemed to be instinctual so everyone thought it was simply easier for babies to show when they were displeased and that expressing pleasure was something they had to be taught how to do. Now, however, these theories are being debunked. Advances have been made in ultrasound technology and more parents are seeing images of their children smiling while they are still in utero. Now families are given ultrasound pictures of their smiling children many weeks before the children’s’ due date. Doctors now think that babies seem to "learn" how to smile because it takes them a few weeks to get over the trauma of having been birthed.
There are all sorts of interesting facts about babies that are not well known. Oddly, many adults are better able to approach a situation calmly if they have a lot of knowledge on the subject at hand.
Learning about babies and how they function can help you be a better parent. What are you waiting for?
